The Smart Speech Therapy assessment team provides comprehensive independent evaluations for school-age children, adolescents, and young adults with suspected or previously identified language, literacy, learning, and pragmatic communication difficulties. Evaluations may examine oral language, reading, spelling, written language, higher-order language, and pragmatic functioning as clinically appropriate to the individual referral concerns.

Evaluations are conducted by qualified speech-language pathologists under the clinical supervision and oversight of Tatyana Elleseff, MA, CCC-SLP, BCS-CL. Tatyana oversees case conceptualization, assessment planning, interpretation of complex findings, and clinical recommendations to help ensure that evaluations are comprehensive, individualized, and consistent with current evidence-based practice.

Assessment is individualized rather than based on a single predetermined testing battery. Existing school, speech-language, psychological, neuropsychological, and educational records are reviewed to identify what has already been adequately assessed, where important questions remain, and which additional measures are needed to understand the client’s strengths and difficulties.

The goal of the evaluation is to clarify the nature and functional impact of the identified difficulties and provide specific recommendations for intervention, educational planning, accommodations, and additional assessment when warranted.

Deepening Our Understanding of the Language–Literacy Connection

February 1, 2026

I am extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to hear Tatyana Elleseff speak on the critical connection between language acquisition and literacy development. As a Certified Academic Language Practitioner, my training has equipped me with strong tools for teaching struggling readers; however, I have consistently observed that some students present with more complex literacy challenges, particularly when early language acquisition has been impacted. Tatyana provided clear, practical, and research-aligned insights that deepen my understanding of these profiles and offer concrete strategies I can integrate within a structured literacy framework. I am grateful for a knowledgeable voice shining a light on this often-overlooked link and for supporting dyslexia practitioners like me in continually refining our instruction to better meet the needs of all learners.

Informative and interesting…you can tell that her heart is in it!

January 25, 2026

She spoke to a group of Academic Language Therapists in Texas and we were all so impressed with her breadth of knowledge about the reading process and development of language in children. I sent her an email with some outstanding questions and she wrote me a very thoughtful response. I appreciate her sharing her time and insight with us.

Everything I hoped for and much more

November 14, 2024

I contacted Tatyana for a consult on a treatment plan for a complex case. I got so much more than that. The level of depth with which she reviewed and analyzed my data was invaluable – she not only suggested additional assessment measures but also provided a wealth of tools, ideas, and a clear direction moving forward. Her expertise and conviction were crucial in shaping my own understanding. I highly recommend her services to both new and seasoned SLPs. I will be back for more help. Thank you so much Tatyana!
